Useful Wind Energy Links
Wind Powering America (WPA)
Wind Powering America is a commitment to dramatically increase the use of wind energy in the
United States. This initiative will establish new sources of income for American farmers,
Native Americans, and other rural landowners, and meet the growing demand for clean sources
of electricity.
American Wind Energy Association (AWEA)
AWEA is a national trade association that represents wind power plant developers, wind
turbine manufacturers, utilities, consultants, insurers, financiers, researchers, and others
involved in the wind industry -- one of the world's fastest growing energy industries. In
addition, AWEA represents hundreds of wind energy advocates from around the world.
Native American Wind Interest Group (NAWIG)
Wind Powering America has initiated a quarterly Native American Wind Interest Group (NAWIG)
Newsletter as part of its Native American outreach plan. It presents Native American wind
information, including projects, interviews with pioneers, issues, Wind Powering America
activities, and related events. It is our hope that this newsletter will both inform and
elicit comments and input on wind development in Indian Country.
National Renewable Energy Laboratory(NREL)
NREL develops renewable energy and energy efficiency technologies and practices, advances related
science and engineering, and transfers knowledge and innovations to address the nation's energy and environmental goals.
National Wind Technology Center(NWTC)
The mission of the Wind Energy Program is to support the President's National Energy Policy
and departmental priorities for increasing the viability and deployment of renewable energy;
lead the Nation's efforts to improve wind energy technology through public/private
partnerships that enhance domestic economic benefit from wind power development; and
coordinate with stakeholders on activities that address barriers to use of wind energy.
European Wind Energy Association (EWEA)
EWEA members include manufacturers covering 98% of the global wind power market, as well as
component suppliers, research institutes, national wind and renewables associations,
developers, electricity providers, finance and insurance companies and consultants. The
combined strength of more than 250 members from over 40 countries makes EWEA the worldÆs
largest renewable energy association.
Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy (EERE)
The EERE mission is to strengthen America's energy security, environmental quality, and
economic vitality in public-private partnerships that enhance energy efficiency and productivity;
bring clean, reliable and affordable energy technologies to the marketplace and make a difference
in the everyday lives of Americans by enhancing their energy choices and their quality of life.
National Wind Coordinating Committee (NWCC)
The National Wind Coordinating Committee (NWCC) is a consensus-based collaborative that
identifies issues that affect the use of wind power, establishes dialogue among key
stakeholders, and catalyzes activities to support the development of environmentally,
economically, and politically sustainable commercial markets for wind power. NWCC
members include representatives from a broad spectrum of interests. All NWCC business,
including meetings and workshop information, white papers, member listings, and other
wind related events are available on the NWCC web site.
