Arizona Wind Working Group

The Arizona Wind Working Groupd (AzWWG) was formed in November
2001 with funding from the U.S. Department of Energy Wind
Powering America program. Northern Arizona University
is the lead organization responsible for managing the group,
its activities and outreach, and holding semi-annual meetings.
Dr Tom Acker, Associate Professor Mechanical Engineering
is co-leader of the group along with Ms. Amanda ormond of
the Ormond Group.

The mission of the Arizona Wind Working Group is to
work collaboratively to encourage the development of commercial and
small-scale wind energy in the State of Arizona. Specific goals include:
• Determine the magnitude and geographic distribution
of the wind energy resource available in Arizona
• Assess the feasibility of commercial-scale
development of Arizona’s wind resource
• Where wind energy development is feasible,
promote the commercial development the wind energy resource.
• Assess the barriers and opportunities
to wind development.
• Promote the small wind turbine industry
in the state of Arizona
